Resources
Consol Homes volunteers and OAU members have worked together to produce a number of resources specifically designed for use by parents, guardians and children in our communities.
These include memory and ‘I am a Hero’ books which provide both parents and children, particularly those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, with an important opportunity to express, share and make lasting records of feelings, thoughts and experiences important to them.
In addition to this, our OAU members have produced an Orphan Affairs Unit Handbook for use by new and existing members, outlining and recording the aims and achievements of the groups. A book has also been produced by the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative (REPSSI) about the work of the OAU and is available on request.

Programme sustainability
In order to facilitate greater community ownership, our traditional leaders - including village chiefs, headmen and women - are all active partners in our support and care programmes. In addition to this, to enable our organisation to continue to grow and develop, all community volunteers at Consol Homes receive basic monitoring and evaluation skills training.
